Federer Returns from Boozy Celebration

ROGER FEDERER stayed up until 5am boozing after winning Wimbledon.

The super Swiss celebrated at the SW19 Champions Dinner with wife Mirka – before hitting the bar with pals.

He said: “My head’s ringing. I don’t know what I did last night. I drank too many types of drinks, I guess.

“After the ball we went to – what would you call it? I guess it’s a bar – and there were almost 30 to 40 friends that were there.

“So we had a great time. Got to bed at five, then woke up, and just didn’t feel good.

“The last hour or so I’m somewhat OK again. So I’m happy with that.

“We had a good time.”

Once he recovers from his hangover, Federer is gunning to return to world No1, inspired by fellow sporting legends.

Federer last held the top ranking back in 2012 but winning his eighth Wimbledon title against Marin Cilic makes it possible for him to regain it before the US Open starts at the end of August.

Federer said: “I think it’s going to be a three or four-way race or two-way race between me and Rafa Nadal. I hope it’s me and not Rafa because it means a lot to me to get back to number one.”

Federer, who will turn 36 next month, now has 19 Grand Slam titles, four ahead of nearest rival Nadal, and is rightly talked about as one of the greatest athletes of all time.

He told the BBC that he was motivated by trying to match other sports stars who had continued to win big late into their careers.

Federer said: “I get inspired in a big way by the likes of Usain Bolt, Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Valentino Rossi or Michael Schumacher, guys who did things for a very long time at the highest of levels.
