New signing Mohamed Salah looked in imperious form on the right wing as his acceleration, direct running and sweet left boot terrorised the Eagles defence.

Yet at the end of the first-half, the teams went in level at 0-0 with Liverpool once again showing they struggle to kill off teams and find the net in games they dominate.

After the break, Klopp took just five minutes to make all ten of his substitutions.

They took some time to settle, but it was former Chelsea man Solanke who finally broke the deadlock as he unleashed a powerful 20-yard strike past a helpless Wayne Hennessey.

From there the Reds toyed with the South Londoners, as Divock Origi doubled their lead with ten minutes left on the clock.

After a lovely team move, it was the Belgian who pounced on a loose ball in the penalty area to rifle the ball into the back of the net.

Palace, now under Dutch boss Frank de Boer, looked to play an attacking 3-4-3 style, with Wilfried Zaha particularly impressing as he looked to take the game to the Liverpool back four.

However, they were massively outgunned by Klopp’s men.

In defence, so often the thorn in Liverpool’s side, players like Joel Matip and Joe Gomez looked composed as they crucially kept a clean sheet.
