PAULIE MALIGNAGGI is talking up Conor McGregor’s boxing skills after sparring with the Irishman.
The former two-weight world champion and pundit knows a thing or two about the sweet science.
So Floyd Mayweather should sit up and take notice when the Brooklyn brawler warns him McGregor is shaping up for their Las Vegas showdown.
Malignaggi told NYFights.com: “Eight rounds, good work.
“I can’t disclose too much but McGregor is no dummy.
“There’s a method to his madness. He has an idea of what he wants to do and how he wants to do it, he’s not clueless.
“He’s not your conventional boxer by any means but he’s capable and his power is good.
“Whether that can be effective is up to him, but he’s no dummy.”
Malignaggi, 36, was also impressed to experience one of McGregor’s undoubted strengths up close.
He added in a tweet: “I have to say the banter and trash talking made it fun.”
But Anthony Joshua believes McGregor has crossed a line with his jibes during the media blitz to promote the fight.
Speaking at the Mayweather gym in Las Vegas, AJ said, “I’m Mayweather, I’m a fan of the TMT camp.
“You can’t talk s*** to a champion like that. Mayweather has done it from the amateurs, people forget he’s done it from like ground zero.
“Let’s not forget, everyone only remembers Mayweather for his last 10 fights, he’s had it hard.
“But it’s entertainment isn’t it and he knows how to sell a fight.
“But you can’t f*** with Mayweather, he’s done it – done it from the ground up.”
